Unwrap, then settle them in.
Start by carefully unwrapping the kraft paper - this isn't trash, by the way; it's the same paper our team uses when bundling at the farm. Once freed, give your stems a quick look. They've been on a journey.
Fill a clean vase with water that's room temperature or colder - never warm. Hot water shortens a flower's life significantly. Place your bouquet directly in, then tear open half of the flower food packet included with your order. Give it a gentle stir and let your flowers settle. They'll take a quiet hour or two to open up and find their shape. No need to fuss — they know what to do.

Fresh water. Fresh cut.
Every couple of days - before the water has a chance to go cloudy - give your stems a fresh trim. About an inch off the bottom, cut at a 45-degree angle with a sharp pair of scissors or shears.
Why the angle? A diagonal cut increases the surface area for water uptake, helping your flowers drink more efficiently. It also prevents the stems from resting flat against the vase bottom and sealing themselves off.
Top things off with the second half of your flower food packet and fresh cool water. That's truly all it takes to extend the life of your bouquet by several more days.
Care at a glance
-
Vase & Water
Use a clean vase. Fill with room temperature or cold water - never warm. The colder the water, the slower the blooms open, and the longer they last.
-
Flower Food
Add half the included food packet at setup, the second half on your next water change. The packet contains a blend of sugars, acidifiers, and a mild biocide.
-
Re-Trim & Refresh
Every 2–3 days, trim about an inch off each stem at a 45° angle and refresh the water. This keeps the intake clean and the blooms hydrated.
A few tips from the field
Keep Away from Heat
Avoid placing your bouquet near heating vents, sunny windowsills, or on top of appliances. Direct heat and drafts accelerate wilting. A cool corner of a room is ideal.
Vase Cleanliness Matters
Bacteria in a dirty vase is the number-one reason flowers fade quickly. Give your vase a quick rinse with hot water and a drop of dish soap before each water change.
Trim in the Morning
If you can, do your re-trim in the morning when flowers are freshest. They've had the night to cool down and rest, making them most receptive to a fresh cut and water.
Remove Wilted Stems
As individual blooms fade, gently remove them from the arrangement. This keeps the water cleaner and allows the remaining flowers to continue receiving nutrients uninterrupted.
